Is Mykonos worth visiting?
Mykonos is absolutely worth visiting!
The island has unique local vibes and many beauties, but you can not stay here for 2 weeks in a row.
The island is extremely popular and noisy during the summer, with cruise ships and the small city is easily overcrowded.
It seems that everybody is fighting over the same location to take pictures and watch the sunset. Or just go out in the stores for shopping, or eat at the high-class restaurants.
Maybe that's your cup of tea, but I rather experience an island in a different and more relaxed way.
A bit of good advice is to mix Mykonos with some island hopping with Delos, Rhenia islands and stay for 1 or up to 3 days.
Shore excursions and island tours are also an option here!
You can also visit other islands of the Cyclades with fast connections during the summer to Paros, Patmos, etc.
The prices on the neighbouring island are much lower for food as well as accommodation and shopping.
You can easily jump on a ferry and travel from one island to the next for around 15 euros only. Experience the uniqueness every island has to offer.

The bus is the best way to get around but you can always rent a car, take a taxi, or take a tour in Mykonos!
With such a network, the island has an efficient system to connect many towns with attractions.
Chora has already restricted and banned motor vehicles, so within the town of Mykonos, everyone walks or rides a bike.
Either by taxi, car, scooter, ATV, water taxi or on foot Mykonos is easy to get around.
You can always check for island tours or Jeep Safari in Mykonos and see every side of the island on a 4x4 day experience!

Do you need a car in Mykonos?
Mostly you do not need a car, but if you stay outside the Chora you will need a car to see around!
It depends, if you are on a short stay and you want to get only around the Chora, you do not need any car, as there are narrow streets and difficulty with parking.
So the car is not obligatory for the Town of Mykonos.
But if you stay outside Chora, or you want to see the island in general and enjoy the wonderful beaches and the glamorous beach bars, and the picturesque villages Mykonos island has to offer, then you will need one, or also spend the day on a day tour in Mykonos.
Is Mykonos expensive to visit?
Mykonos is an expensive place to visit but if you are smart and on time, it can at least be affordable.
Mykonos and Santorini are considered the two tops most expensive Greek Islands.
The main beach and nightlife areas are all expensive beyond the average level for the standards of Greece.
Accommodation is also expensive in Mykonos, especially if you leave it for the last minute.
You will probably be found without a room or you will need to pay a lot more if you cannot avoid going.
You can always find an advantage for cheaper places of lower quality or with poor locations, but as these ones are cheaper they are sold out at a glance!
How many days do I need in Mykonos?
Five days is an ideal and also enough length of time for a visit Mykonos!

The transfer from Mykonos port to the Town of Mykonos will be around 29€ during the day and 35€ at night which is not expensive!
If you want to reach other areas rates are expected to increase.
Try to book your taxi in advance. Although taxis should always be available at the port, it is advised to book your taxi in advance to avoid sold outs, especially during the high season.
Mykonos has a long history over the centuries with many sightseeings to visit. Apart from the nightlife and its top markets, it is a destination that you will need a budget beyond average in your holidays. It is a luxury destination where you can find absolutely everything!
